The Division of Vehicles is in the process of modernizing its computer system. The DMV Modernization Project will replace the current system that is over 20 years old. A key piece of the implementation is data conversion from the old system to the new system.
Each time an individual visits their county's vehicle registration office to do title and registration processing they will be required to provide/show their driver's license. If the vehicle is owned by a business, the business should provide/show their FEIN documents. The name on the title will appear as it is on the driver's license or FEIN documents.
The new system is customer centric, meaning vehicle and driver records are accessed and cross referenced. Currently several vehicles can be registered differently to the same person. Example John Q Public:

- JQ Public
- John Q Public
Asking individuals to provide their driver license or FEIN documents will ensure consistency and sync-up existing vehicle records.
