SO YOU WANT TO BE AN ELECTION WORKER?
Elections could not happen without election workers. They perform a most valuable community service by assisting voters at the polls on Election Day.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must be a resident of SalineCounty
· Must be currently a registered voter
· Must be a U.S. citizen
· Must be able to work at least 14 consecutive hours on Election Day - You will be working the polls from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m or when released by the Supervising Judge.
· Must attend the election worker training sessions before each election
· High School and College Students are eligible (16 yrs of age and older)
DUTIES INCLUDE:
· Attend schedules training sessions
· Set up polling location ready for voters
· Check in voters and obtain voter signatures in poll book
· Operate voting machines
· Issue ballots to eligible voters
· Provide voting instructions to voters
· Be continuously present at polls from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm
TRAINING:
All election workers are required to attend training as schedules to be qualified to work. Additional training may be provided when necessary. Training is held during the three-week period before each election. If you are assigned, you will be notified by mail for the Training and Election Day assignment.
COMPENSATION:
Election workers receive an average of $100 per election. The Supervising Judge has additional duties and is compensated for additional mileage and time.
