Road Closures

Assaria Road (Holmes Rd to Simpson Rd)

Assaria Road, from Holmes Road to Simpson Road will be closed starting, July, 12th, 2018, for the replacement of an existing, narrow, deteriorated drainage structure with a new reinforced concrete box (RCB) drainage structure. The structure is located on Assaria Road, 0.2 mile east of Holmes Road. No through traffic will be possible during the construction period. Motorists are advised to allow a few extra minutes of travel time to reach their destinations. Local and emergency traffic will be provided access to private property within the sections of closed road at all times but only from the sides of the construction zone upon which the property lies. The only times these properties may not be accessible might be during possible critical stages of construction when it is impractical to carry on construction operations and simultaneously allow local traffic. Completion of the new RCB and reopening of this section of Assaria Road is anticipated by mid-August. Of course, completion by this date is dependent on the weather.

Saline County opened bids on the 2018 Reinforced Concrete Box (RCB) Package on March 6th. This project consists of the replacement of nine existing drainage structures with new RCB culverts. The low bidder on this package of RCBs was Reece Construction Company, Inc. of Salina. They were awarded a contract for $815,989.00. The project is funded from the 2-mil fund for bridge and culvert replacement. This particular RCB is fifth of the nine to be replaced.
